Cylinders, Metal (Set of 6) (Product Code: SLE/PHY/57) is a set of six precision metal cylinders used to measure and compare the density of different metals in physics practicals. Each cylinder has a 10 mm diameter and is made of a different metal — brass, lead, iron, copper, aluminium or zinc — and the set comes in a wooden block. It is made by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), an OEM manufacturer, at its own factory in Ambala, India, as physics practical equipment for CBSE and other syllabi.

The classic exercise is to find the density of each metal from its dimensions. Students measure the diameter and length of a cylinder with a vernier caliper, work out the volume as πr²h, weigh the cylinder on a balance and divide mass by volume. Repeating this for all six metals shows clearly why a lead cylinder feels so much heavier than an aluminium one of the same diameter.
The same cylinders can be lowered into a measuring cylinder of water to find volume by displacement, letting a class compare the geometric and displacement methods and discuss measurement error. Return each cylinder to its place in the wooden block after use to avoid dents, and have students wash their hands after handling the lead piece.
Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, trading as ScienceLab, is the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) of this cylinder set and produces it at its own licensed factory at Saha, Ambala, Haryana, India. Because the maker supplies schools, colleges, dealers and importers directly, a lost or damaged cylinder can be raised with the same team that made the set — ask us about a replacement. Which metals are in the Cylinders, Metal (Set of 6)?
The Cylinders, Metal (Set of 6) contains one cylinder each of brass, lead, iron, copper, aluminium and zinc. All six have a 10 mm diameter and are supplied together in a wooden block.
What size are the metal cylinders in this set?
Each cylinder in the Cylinders, Metal (Set of 6) has a diameter of 10 mm. The length is not listed on this page; if you need it for worksheets, ask us through the contact page before ordering.
How do students find density with the Cylinders, Metal (Set of 6)?
With the Cylinders, Metal (Set of 6), students measure each cylinder’s diameter and length, calculate its volume, weigh it on a balance and divide mass by volume to compare the densities of the six metals.
Who manufactures the Cylinders, Metal (Set of 6)?
Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab) manufactures the Cylinders, Metal (Set of 6) as the OEM at its own licensed factory at Saha, Ambala, Haryana, India, and supplies it directly to institutions and dealers.
How should the Cylinders, Metal (Set of 6) be stored and handled?
Keep the Cylinders, Metal (Set of 6) in its wooden block when not in use so pieces are not lost or dented. Students should wash their hands after handling the lead cylinder.
