Typical Use
Suspend the scale at the health worker’s eye level so the large dial can be read straight on without parallax. Hang the weighing trousers or sling from the lower hook, turn the pointer to zero, then lower the child in gently. The built-in damping calms the swinging that a moving toddler causes, so the needle comes to rest quickly and the weight can be read to the nearest 100 g and written on the growth card.
Between sessions, check the zero with nothing attached and hang a known weight now and then to confirm the reading has not drifted; the calibration screw allows adjustment when needed. Simple, regular lab equipment maintenance — wiping off dust and moisture and storing the scale unloaded — keeps the spring and dial mechanism in good order during heavy field use.
