Place the scale on a flat, hard surface, level it with the adjustable feet and switch it on. The mother (or any caregiver) steps onto the footprints alone and her weight is displayed; she is then handed the child, the scale tares itself automatically, and the display shows only the child’s weight. For a school-age child or adult who can stand unaided, switch to mother-only mode and weigh the person directly.
