What Is a Lab Cushion Used For?
Hard ceramic or steel sinks are where much laboratory glassware gets chipped or broken, usually when a beaker slips from wet hands during washing. Lining the sink base with these resilient mats gives dropped items a softer landing, and because the mat sits over the outlet it catches stoppers, magnetic stirrer bars, pipette tips and broken glass before they can lodge in the waste pipe or trap. Lift the mats regularly to clear what they have caught and rinse them.
