Moulded in LLDPE with foot rests, a keyhole-shaped drop hole and an attached HDPE keyhole cover, it comes without a pan but is prepared for later water-seal installation. What Is the Plastic Squatting Plate Used For?
In the first phase of an emergency response, this plate is laid over a latrine pit or trench to give people a safe, cleanable squatting surface without waiting for concrete slabs to be cast and cured. The foot rests show users where to stand, the keyhole drop hole is sized with small children in mind, and the attached cover can be closed between uses to keep flies and odour down.
For installation, rest the plate on firm ground at both ends and drive the four supplied metal pegs through the corner holes so it cannot shift. Because the underside is prepared for a pan and water-seal trap, the same plate can later be upgraded from direct drop to a water-sealed latrine. Wash the surface towards the drop hole, where the built-in slope carries water and dirt away.
