Specifications

Typical Use

Clean glassware is the starting point of reliable results — a trace of old precipitate can spoil a salt-analysis test, and the silver-mirror test in organic chemistry only works in a thoroughly clean tube. At the end of each practical, empty the tube, rinse it, add a little detergent solution and work the brush up and down with a twisting motion so the bristles reach the rounded bottom. Rinse with tap water, give a final rinse with distilled water from a wash bottle, and stand the tube upside down to drain.

Push the brush in gently rather than jabbing it against the base of the tube, which protects thin glass from knocks. Rinse and shake the brush after use and hang it to dry so the nylon stays fresh; replace it once the bristles become flattened or splayed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the brush scratch glass test tubes?
The bristles are soft nylon, which is gentle on glass. Avoid adding scouring powder, as that is what usually leaves fine scratches.

What size of test tube does it fit?
Brush length and head diameter are not listed at present. Contact us with your tube sizes and we will confirm a suitable brush.

Can it be used for burettes or flasks?
It is designed for test tubes. Burettes need a longer, narrower brush such as the Brush Burette.

When should the brush be replaced?
Replace it when the bristles no longer spring back, or when they are stained with residues that do not rinse out.

In what quantities is it sold?
Pack sizes are not stated in this listing; tell us how many brushes you need and we will quote accordingly.

Can you ship brushes with a larger lab order overseas?
Yes. We supply institutions and distributors in India and international markets and can combine consumables with equipment in one shipment.
