Typical Use
A six-place stand is sized for one student's set of tests: running Benedict's, iodine and biuret food tests side by side, comparing the colour of indicator solutions at different pH, carrying out the wet tests of salt analysis, or setting up a small series of dilutions. Lined up in order, the tubes make it easy to compare results and to keep a control next to each sample. In biology and microbiology sessions the same stand holds culture or sample tubes and can be autoclaved afterwards.
Mark each position with the sample name before you start so tubes are not mixed up. Because the stand is plastic, let a tube that has just come out of a flame cool for a moment in a test tube holder before setting it down. Rinse the stand after spills of acids or dyes to keep the white surface clean.
