What Is the 200mm PVC Rubber Ring Elbow Used For?
Trunk mains of 200 mm follow roads, boundaries and site layouts, and every right-angle turn needs a bend of the same size. This elbow provides that turn with push-fit rubber ring sockets, which are quicker to make in a trench than solvent joints on large pipe and tolerate small movements caused by temperature change or settlement.
Because rubber ring joints are not designed to resist being pushed apart, the water pressure at a bend creates a thrust that the joints alone should not carry. Pressurised mains therefore normally have a concrete thrust block or other restraint at each bend, sized by the system designer. Chamfer and lubricate each spigot, push it fully home, and keep the main within 10 bar at 20°C.
