What Is a Non-Heated Humidifier Bottle Used For?
Medical oxygen is very dry, so a humidifier bottle is often placed between the flowmeter and the patient tubing. Gas enters through the DISS inlet, bubbles up through the water and leaves through the outlet carrying moisture on to the patient tubing. Because the bottle does not heat the gas, it is a simple, power-free option for wards and health centres.
Staff fill the bottle with water between the marked minimum and maximum lines and check the level on each round, topping up as needed. The pop-off valve releases pressure if the outlet tubing becomes kinked or blocked. After use the cap and bottle are separated for autoclaving or disinfection with hospital-grade detergents, following the facility's reprocessing procedure.
